We are hosting the Biathlon Alberta Championships March 2-3, 2013.

We need volunteers to have another successful race!

Schedule of Events:

 

Friday, March 1:

10:00                    Unofficial practice for all competitors (race maps will be posted)

13:00                    Range opens (Paper will be supplied)

16:00                    Range closed

19:30                    Captain’s meeting at West Fraser Woodlands Office (directions to office are on page 3)

 

Saturday, March 2:

Sprint Competition

08:30                    Competition Office Opens – Bib pickup by team before zero

09:45                    Equipment check opens

 10:00                   Zero begins – All Categories

10:45                    Zero ends

11:00                    Competition begins

13:30 (approx.)   OPTIONAL DOWNHILL SKI FUN RACE: Skiers will be timed from near the upper lodge to the stadium at lower lodge. The trail is generally downhill.  There is no cost for this optional fun race.

18:00                    Banquet - Awards for Sprint competition will be presented at the banquet.   The 2013 Gernot Kostera Awards will also be presented.

 

Sunday, March 3:

Mass Start Competition

08:00                    Competition Office Opens – Bib pickup by team before zero

08:45                    Equipment check opens

09:00                    Zero begins – All Categories

09:45                    Zero Ends

10:00                    Competition begins

13:00                    Awards on site (after competition)

 

Penalties:

  • Sprint: Air Rifle 1, Air Rifle 2, Dev -1 and Dev -2 ski a 100m penalty loop. All other classes ski a 150 m penalty loop.

  •             Mass Start: Air Rifle 1, Air Rifle 2, Dev-1 and Dev-2 ski a 100m penalty loop. All other classes ski a 150 m penalty loop.

Rifle Carrying:

  • Dev and Air Rifle categories athletes shall have their rifles placed on and removed from the firing line by their coaches.
  •             Senior Boys/Girls carry their rifles only on the range. Coaches are responsible to provide their own “rifle runners”.
